Dr Majid Sharifian Pain Management, FRACGP

Dr Majid Sharifian has been working in Australia for the past 15 years with a holistic approach to the diseases which helped him later on when he started specialising in chronic pain management. He is an advocate of the “one problem, many minds” approach and believes that pain management needs a holistic approach involving all aspects of a patient’s life – including biology, psychology and social aspects. He is an advocate of multidisciplinary care, which combines pharmacologic management, pain procedures, physiotherapy and psychology. He also believes that involving the pain sufferer actively in the management of their pain is an integral part of the treatment protocol.

“Every patient is their own best health advocate. This is important to remember because active involvement reduces the patient’s suffering. The pain might be a fact yes, but most of the time suffering is a choice,” he says.

Dr Nick Goodman MB BS, DCH, FFHom

Dr Nick Goodman’s interests provide additional management opportunities for many patients. He is a holistic GP who attained his medical degree in 1977. After 9 years of varied hospital medical and surgical experiences, (3 years of which were in London studying homeopathy), by 2020 he has been a GP for the last 34 years. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Homeopathy, and uses this medical discipline when appropriate. Homeopathy was initially developed 220 years ago by doctor and chemist Samuel Hahnemann, as a method of stimulating natural healing responses, by using a medicine made from a substance that can induce similar symptoms to those of the patient. Homeopathy is the leading form of complementary medicine in Europe and is also popular in India, with a relatively low side effect profile because of the highly diluted nature of the medicines. Recently, scientific evidence for homeopathy has grown, with information supporting homeopathy’s effectiveness and studies are beginning to indicate how homeopathy may exert its biological effects.

Wellbeing DNA testing: DNA testing is the premium standard of preventative health care. Identify and investigate your genetic susceptibilities to disease and imbalance. Sylvia Tarchalska Certified MINDD/Functional Medicine Health Coach (FMCHC), Bachelor of Commerce

Sylvia Tarchalska is a certified MINDD/ Functional Medicine Health Coach. Her mission is to help clients and their families feel better and whole again – back to what a good life looks like for the patient. She works as part of the team of practitioners at The Grove Health Bondi.

In this role she helps clients facilitate behaviour change by working with them to understand their motivations for change and co-create a realistic goal-based plan to implement the Doctors recommended protocol.

Depending on where the client is at, this can involve motivational interviewing, character strength analysis, protocol translation and targeting lifestyle modification including sleep, stress response, hydration, physical activity and shopping habits.  This process aims to achieve lasting positive change for clients, by helping them realign values and behaviours.

As they journey toward better health, Sylvia aims to guide, support, nurture and empower patients to discover the “why” part of the need for changes and then the “how”.

Sylvia’s journey to becoming a Health Coach began after the birth of her first child in 2009. Having worked in the finance industry at Merrill Lynch/BofA as a portfolio trader for 16 years in Australia and Hong Kong, she faced a raft of chronic health issues that needed to be understood and addressed.  This led her initially to the works of Weston a Price and in more recent years to retrain as a functional medicine health coach to take back control of her own health. She works every Tuesday in the clinic but is available most days with notice.
