Dr Richard Schloeffel MB BS (NSW), FRACGP, FAMAS, Dip Acup (China), OAM

Dr Richard Schloeffel graduated in 1978 from NSW University along with post-graduate training in an isolated rural general practice. He worked in country practices for thirteen years and spent five years working in the developing world, including Papua New Guinea, China, India, Bali and Eastern Europe.

For the last twenty years he has been the principal at Pymble Grove Health Centre where he has been treating complex and chronic disorders with an integrative team of practitioners.

This broad experience has been invaluable in developing the diagnosis and treatment of chronic disorders and the ability to look beyond the existing paradigms to a deeper and more profound understanding of complex diseases, particularly Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Borreliosis and co-infections as well as Auto Immune Disease.

Dr Schloeffel has treated over three and a half thousand patients with CFS and related disorders, refining diagnosis and appropriate investigations and management protocols. He has lectured widely on CFS as well as Borreliosis and co-infections.

He is currently President of The Australian Chronic Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases Society (ACIIDS) and is assisting with The Tick Bourne Disease Research Unit at Sydney University. He is pro-active in helping Doctors and Patients understand chronic disease.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that in 2017 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his work with Chronic and Infectious Diseases.

Dr Antony Underwood MB BS (Syd), FRACP

Dr Antony Underwood is a Consultant Paediatrician who is trained in anthroposophical medicine. This is an holistic approach to medicine, based on the works of Dr Rudolf Steiner. After completing his paediatric training in England, he travelled to Germany where he studied in a home for autistic and handicapped children. He further studied in a German hospital, which uses anthroposophic medicine and therapies.

Since establishing himself in private practice in Sydney, he has developed a special area of interest in autistic children. This involves the biomedical treatment of autism and recognises that many of these children have a biomedical block to their development.

This often involves the use of the casein and gluten free diet, specific gastrointestinal treatments aimed at optimising the correct balance of bowel flora. Specific biochemical testing can show imbalances in the zinc and copper imbalances, which are managed with specially compounded medicines.

Dr James Read MBBS, FRACGP, Grad Dip Rural GP, JCCA qualified GP anaesthetist

Dr Read is a teaching faculty member and the former Vice President of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine.

He has numerous post graduate qualifications including Fellowships in General Practice, Rural General Practice, Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, a Master Degree in Public Health majoring in Nutrition and post graduate qualifications as a GP anaesthetist. He works both in chronic disease focussing on lifestyle nutrition and environmental factors as well as in acute rural and remote medicine where he provides locum anaesthetic and emergency medicine services to rural remote and indigenous communities.

He is an internationally renowned presenter in clinical nutrition having taught in India, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. He is a rural GP by trade where his scope of practice extends to Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Anaesthesia.

His real focus is on providing holistic healthcare integrating the best of nutritional, environmental and lifestyle medicine alongside mainstream western medicine in all his patients.

Approaches to treatment include examining and modifying lifestyle factors including diet, sleep and stress management. He also examines toxin exposure and utilises detoxification, nutritional supplementation including intravenous and individually compounded nutrients and hormonal therapies to treat a variety of clinical conditions.

Dr Nick Goodman MB BS, DCH, FFHom

Dr Nick Goodman’s interests provide additional management opportunities for many patients. He is a wholistic GP who attained his medical degree in 1977.

He came to Pymble Grove Health Centre in 2005 with 9 years experience in hospital medicine followed by 20 years experience as General Practitioner. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Homeopathy, and uses this method in his treatment protocols.Homeopathy is a system of natural medicine developed by doctor and chemist Samuel Hahnemann over 200 years ago. Dr Peter Dobie MBBS works in the field of integrative medicine. Dr Dobie has a particular interest in complex and chronic illness, chronic fatigue, nutritional medicine and food allergies and sensitivities.

For three years Dr Dobie was co-director of an allergy clinic at a Sydney Private Hospital. He also did rural locums for several years and is skilled in emergency medicine.

Dr Yuwen Lee MB BS (NSW) FRACGP, Grad.Dip.Nutri.Med (RMIT)

Dr Yuwen Lee graduated from The University of New South Wales in 1990. In addition to her initial training in conventional general practice, Dr Lee completed a post-graduate diploma in Nutritional/Functional Medicine at the Royal Melbourne University of Technology.

She was also trained by the USA Pfeiffer Outreach Program in biochemical restorative treatment in mood disorders and learning difficulties. Dr Lee has since developed a unique style of medical practice that aims at activating the body’s intrinsic healing mechanism to achieve each individual’s functional potential.




Dr Lee’s treatment modalities include:

Gail Purkis B.Sc. (Psych), Dip. Psychol. MAPS, GAICD

Gail is a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Hypnotherapist. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the UNSW and her postgraduate clinical qualifications at the University of Sydney. Gail is a member of the Australian Psychological Society’s Clinical College. She is approved by Work Cover to provide psychological services to injured workers in the NSW Worker’s Compensation System. In addition Gail is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Gail has worked in private practice for a number of years and provides a range of evidence based strategies and therapies, including hypnotherapy and EMDR to reduce distress and enhance and promote emotional wellbeing for people of all ages.

This may include therapy for children with autism and other developmental issues, and their families; individual, couple and family therapy; mental health issues for adolescents and adults; life adjustment issues; post traumatic stress disorders; stress management, grief and loss issues and addictions.

In addition Gail provides therapeutic intervention and support for people suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the neurological and emotional effects of  Lyme Like Illness. All strategies are tailored to the individual needs of the client in the context of their life, experiences and beliefs as a whole.

Her services can be claimed from Medicare, if referred under a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP, or from most private health funds.

Reema Saab BHsc (Comp Med), Adv Dip Nat

Reema Saab has experience in a diversity of platforms in the Natural Therapies industry since 2006. She has cultivated her passion and knowledge of nutritional and herbal medicine in this time and has been working as a Naturopath since 2011.

At present, Reema is the Dispensary Manager and Practicing Naturopath at Pymble Grove health centre. Reema studied Naturopathy at Nature Care College and Health Science at Charles Sturt University
